Bunomys prolatus (Tambusisi Bunomys); Dikenal juga sebagai Long-Headed Hill Rat (Tikus Bukit Berkepala Panjang merupakan tikus langka endemik Sulawesi yang hanya terdapat di gunung Tambusisi, Sulawesi Tengah.

Listed as Endangered as the species has a range of less than 5,000 km2, is known from only a single location, and is undergoing a continuing decline in area of occupancy, and in area and extent of habitat.
History: 1996 – Endangered


Geographic Range [top] Range Description: This species is known only from 1,830 m on Gunung Tambusisi, Sulawesi (Indonesia) (Musser and Carleton 2005). Although it is not impossible it may be shown to occur more widely with additional survey work in neighbouring ranges, the species is more than likely restricted to Tambusisi.

Population [top] Population: It was reported to be common (Musser 1991), although the type series collected is small. There is no information on current population status.
Population Trend: Decreasing

Habitat and Ecology [top] Habitat and Ecology: It occurs in montane forest, in short and very mossy areas (Musser 1991).

Threats [top] Major Threat(s): The major threat is likely to be habitat loss due to expanding agriculture and logging activities.

Conservation Actions [top] Conservation Actions: The only known locality is apparently in a protected area (Morowali Nature Reserve), although it is possible that it also occurs outside this protected area.
